Children & Youth Ministries
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” I Timothy 4:12
The Children & Youth Ministries Team provides a variety of fun programming in a safe, loving environment that develops the spiritual well-being of all God’s children. For questions, please contact us below.
Easter Egg Hunt
Each spring, traditionally the weekend before Easter, Aldersgate hosts a community-wide Easter Egg Hunt. Eggs and candy are hidden all over our campus and Dr. Barry Scott puts an interesting twist on the traditional Egg Hunt by hiding special items related to the Easter story. Don’t miss this great annual event!
Moments with the Children
During each Sunday’s worship service, Bro. Barry invites all children to the front of the church for a special time of fun and learning. As an accomplished children’s entertainer with skills as a puppeteer, storyteller, balloonist, and magician, Bro. Barry always has an exciting way to share each week’s sermon lesson with the children of Aldersgate.
Children’s Church
After the “Moments with the Children” during each Sunday’s worship service, children are invited to attend Children’s Church. Children’s Team Leader, Taylor Ann Johnson, teaches age appropriate lessons, and the children return to the sanctuary prior to the end of the worship service.
Nursery
Aldersgate provides a nursery for children newborn to 3 years old. The Nursery is available during all Sunday morning activities and services. Aldersgate does its best to provide child care for any activities at the church, including Bible studies, special music events and more.
Safe Sanctuaries Policy
Aldersgate United Methodist Church is a Safe Sanctuary church. As a Christian community of faith and a United Methodist congregation, we pledge to conduct the ministry of the Gospel in ways that assure the safety and spiritual growth of all of our children and youth, as well as all of the workers with children and youth. Our purpose for establishing this Child/Youth Abuse Prevention Policy and Procedures is to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth of all of our children and youth.
Sunday School Classes
The Children & Youth Ministries Team is also responsible for the oversight of the Children & Youth Sunday School classes. Aldersgate offers separate Sunday School classes for Nursery, Preschool, Elementary, and Middle/High School Youth. Sunday School classes meet at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Confirmation Class
Confirmation classes teach children about beginning the process of becoming a church member. These classes are taught as needed.
